We won't install customer provided equipment, but we'll charge double msrp for parts.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

sure, a non customer equipment policy makes sense for warranty purposes. I get that. But charging $400+ for parts you can get for $200 direct from the manufacturer is a bit ridiculous. (nevermind the $140 found at New Egg)

Sure it's a business and they need to cover cost but that's where labor comes into play. Plus charging 200% of msrp is a bit bullish.

Needless to say I declined. The Stringbean will have some of that sweet stance camber bruh.

Im still slightly peeved I had a shop decline to put 245 tires on my car where 255's are supposed to go …… when I told them that ahead of time and then they still waited for a half hour after I was there to tell me.

"hey I know you brought in these tires, but we have 255's we can sell you"

"no ass, I'm going to a different shop a block away"

I noticed that once too. They said they'd install my parts but no warranty, so I told them no problem since I can replace the parts a couple times for what they are charging.

The funny thing is if I do decide to get these I'll have my buddy's shop install them then I'll bring it back to Firestone since I have free lifetime alignments. so basically you lost the sale on parts, labor, now I get free labor.

Oddly enough, my wife just had something similar happen with her Corolla. They recommended new front struts and half shafts. Yet they were charging over $150 extra for parts, and double dipping labor (charging to install struts after they have to take them off to do the half shafts anyway)

Needless to say we found an independent shop to do the work. And she also has the lifetime alignment for her vehicle. And uses it probably 2-3 times a year. I have no idea what she does to her car, but it's almost ALWAYS out of spec when she brings it in.

I wonder how many people do not notice a double dip labour charge

she's secretly trying to get a stanced corolla and is bringing it out to car clubs without you knowing. Has she been wearing "illest" shirts and Monster hats lately?

HA!

Oh, I got a good laugh out of that one.

It's more likely that she drives through Philly every day and makes no attempt to avoid potholes. Or curbs.

That whole, "Yeah, we'll install it but we won't warranty our work" is just a crummy move. I'm not asking you to warranty the parts, just the job you do with the wrench ... How is it different when I supply the parts?
